final exam section 16/4/2019
i describe this piece as a representation of beauty from a different culture. a woman with eyes that have seen pain and misery but she was strong enough to not let it stop her but used it as her drive. the use of value was intense in the shadows and high lights of the face but the hijab is somewhat dull in comparison.the value could be made more intense and gradual.

clay box inbetween5/28/2019 i plan on making my piece look like my for my dogs treats. after firing i plan on painting it with acrylic paint to like like my dog. i found that building an open and not solid structure was difficult to do for the head because i need the head to be hollow yet strong enough to stay together. i find that the ears were easier to make and stick but am worried of then breaking when being fired. for the body i rolled a slab and wrapped the slab around a pvc pipe and let it set and took it off the pipe and then started building on top of the the dog using the scratch and slip method to build my dog. clay box finishedi used acrylic paint and also acrylic paint watered down to paint it to look like my dog but didnt apply a clear coat of any sort because i loved how the finish of it looked without any.
it looks like my dog . the face sculpting.

linocut5/28/2019 my piece shows the theme of line by using almost geometric font to carve my words and aswell as the stars.
I love the way my piece turned out because i feel that it really embodies how i interpret being an aries and how i feel about zodiac signs and how astrology plays into my life. red and orange warm tones are usually what are associated with aries so i used an orangey red which reminded me of fire which went with the aries theme, aries being a fire sign.
